Tretopphyttene, Ringsaker Norway

Norway’s original treetop cabins are nestled in the heart of Ringsaker’s wilderness, just 1.5 hours north of Oslo. Tretopphyttene offers a peaceful retreat that beautifully blends comfort with the beauty of the wild landcape. I’ve stayed in many unique places, but few compare to the quiet magic found here.

Picture a cozy cabin lit by the warm flicker of candlelight, with soft sheepskins underfoot and the comforting crackle of a wood-burning stove. Now imagine this tucked high among the treetops, where the gentle sway of the forest rocks you to sleep.

From the moment you step inside, the charm of these treetop cabins is undeniable. Large wooden-framed windows flood the space with natural light and offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding forest. The kitchen, built with raw timber and rustic details, feels both functional and deeply connected to nature. It's a place where you brew your morning coffee with birdsong outside the window and prepare meals while gazing at the swaying pines. The cabin’s design invites slow living. A sunlit reading nook by the window, layered with soft sheepskins and pillows, becomes a favorite spot for cozy afternoons. Here, you can curl up with a good book or simply sit back and watch the ever-changing forest through the glass.

Step outside onto the spacious wooden deck, and you’re met with panoramic views of lush green landscapes and a sparkling forest pond below. It's the perfect setting for breakfast in the fresh air—or to spot a curious squirrel perched on the railing. With binoculars and a warm drink in hand, time seems to stretch, letting you fully absorb the peace of the wilderness.

The cabins comes with its own canoe, perfect for a peaceful paddle along the small channel carved through the mossy wetlands. This narrow waterway winds quietly through the landscape, offering a calm and scenic way to experience the surrounding nature.
